Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer predictably slammed President Trump’s recently released infrastructure plan just hours after the White House released the proposal; strangely suggesting the bill would lead to “Trump tolls” across the nation.
Schumer trashed Trump’s plan on his website Monday, saying the $1.5 trillion proposal would do “very little to make our ailing infrastructure better,” and calling the guidelines a gift to the President’s “political allies.”
“The president’s infrastructure proposal would do very little to make our ailing infrastructure better, but would put unsustainable burdens on our local government and lead to Trump tolls all over the country, all while undermining important protections like Buy America,” Schumer wrote.
“Democrats want to work in a bipartisan way to improve our infrastructure, which is why we put forward a real plan that would expand access to high-speed internet across the country, rebuild our roads and bridges, and modernize our electric grid while creating millions of good-paying, middle-class jobs,” he added.
The Minority Leader’s comments come after House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi sent a scathing letter to her liberal colleagues Sunday night, urging them to “say no” to any GOP proposals throughout 2018.
