John McCain has made it clear that he’s not really interested in doing what his constituents sent him to Washington to do. For example, John McCain ran his latest Senate campaign promising to repeal Obamacare. Then, he went to Washington and was the deciding vote that saved Obamacare. Why? He hates Trump.
Sure, Trump said something rude about McCain over a year ago during the campaign. At some point, you should be able to move on for the good of the country.
McCain just isn’t able to do that.
According to the Washington Post, he knew exactly what he was doing.
From BizPac Review:
In an article titled, “Hero or hired gun? How a British former spy became a flash point in the Russia investigation,” the newspaper detailed how McCain came to have a copy of the unverified dossier that he then forwarded to the FBI.
The article erases any doubt that McCain may not have known the origins of the dossier. It’s not clear if the Republican lawmaker knew that the DNC and Hillary Clinton’s campaign provided funding for the research.Andrew Wood, a former British ambassador to Moscow and friend of Christopher Steele, the ex-British spy behind the dossier, reached out to David Kramer to get the research on Trump into the hands of the Republicans, The Post reported.
Kramer, a former State Department official and close associate of McCain, would arrange for Wood to meet the senator in Canada in December 2016.
Here’s more on that meeting…
Ten days later, in a cloak-and-dagger scene, Kramer and Steele arranged to meet at Heathrow Airport in London. Kramer was told that he should look for a man wearing a blue raincoat and carrying a Financial Times under his arm, according to people familiar with the episode.
Kramer accompanied Steele to his home, where he spent a few hours reviewing the Trump research.
Back in Washington, Kramer received a copy of the dossier from Simpson and completed the handoff to McCain.
At what point will McCain just drop the R next his name and become a Democrat? It is very clear that he cares more about stopping Trump than he does doing what the people of Arizona sent him to Washington to do. He’s nothing more than a Democrat agent.
Maybe that’s why Democrats like him more than Republicans do.
From The Hill:
Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) is better liked by Democrats than by those in his own party, according to a new poll that shows Republicans holding an overall negative view of the veteran GOP senator.
Forty-four percent of Republicans surveyed in the Wall Street Journal/NBC News poll released Wednesday hold a negative view of McCain, while only 35 percent have a positive view of him. Meanwhile, 52 percent of Democrats surveyed now see him in a positive light.
Overall, 43 percent of survey respondents had a favorable view of McCain and 28 percent a negative one.
