After Losing $40 Million In Tax Breaks for Dumping the NRA, Delta Gets Even More Bad News

Delta Airlines engaged in some liberal virtue signaling after the shooting in a Parkland, Florida, high school and announced an end to its relationship with the National Rifle Association. But after that announcement, the airline lost $40 million in tax breaks in Georgia. Now it looks like Florida is about to follow Georgia’s lead and do the same to Enterprise car rental service.

You’ll recall that Delta tried on some PCism for itself when it canceled its association with the NRA. But the move infuriated Georgia’s lawmakers.

As soon as Delta dumped its NRA discounts, Georgia’s Republican Lt. Gov., Casey Cagle, quickly jumped to Twitter to note that he would work to end the tax breaks that were in the works for Delta in the Peach State.

Sure enough, Cagle fulfilled his promise and the state soon passed its budget deal without Delta’s tax cuts included.

Once Georgia slapped Delta down it was reported that only 13 Delta passengers ever claimed the NRA discount. So, with Delta losing $40 million in Georgia tax break over canceling NRA discounts, those 13 passengers cost Delta $3 million each!

Well, Delta got creamed for its decision to dump the NRA. But now it looks like lawmakers in Florida are looking to follow Georgia’s lead, only in their case they are targeting Enterprise car rental service.

“Over the past 24 hours, Florida lawmakers, borrowing from counterparts in Georgia, have targeted an aviation fuel tax reduction benefiting Delta and proposed late night budget language to rebid a state rental car contract held by Enterprise. The Enterprise contract is not set to expire until September 2020,” Politico wrote.

“We would do this to any company that wants to engage against political speech, whether it’s against the NRA or Planned Parenthood,” Republican state Rep. Blaise Ingoglia said, according to Politico. “Anyone can engage in political speech, but we have a duty to watch and make sure government money doesn’t underwrite it.”

NRA lobbyist Marion Hammer noted that gun owners are thrilled with the decision: “Taxpayer dollars shouldn’t be used to benefit businesses who discriminate against a segment of the taxpayers.”

Naturally, Florida’s liberals aren’t happy with the move.

But, it is likely that in the red state of Florida Enterprise will be smacked down whether liberals like it or not.

Meanwhile, the NRA has gained millions of new members thanks to the left’s attack on our Second Amendment rights.

Last year the NRA claimed to have around 5 million members. But as of this year, after the sustained attack on our rights, one NRA official said that the organization may just top 15 million members this year!
