The liberal left has tried its best to convince the American people that guns are the reason 17 people were killed at a high school in Parkland, Florida. In reality, the reason those people are dead is because the government failed them. The FBI was warned and did nothing. The school was warned and did nothing. The Sherrif’s Office knew he was a problem and did nothing. The police officers stationed at the school did nothing. A lot of government officials did nothing and now here we are.
As far as the school goes, the situation is more complicated than just blaming the school officials. In fact, a lot of people out there are starting to realize a troubling connection between the politics that contributed to ignoring the Cruz red flags and the Obama Administration.
From Washington Times:
Under Superintendent Robert W. Runcie, who worked for Obama Education Secretary Arne Duncan in the Chicago Public Schools, school-based arrests dropped by 63 percent from 2012 to 2016 after he implemented policies designed to derail the “schoolhouse-to-jailhouse pipeline.”
But the approach also helped keep Cruz off the law-enforcement radar, despite school-based offenses that reportedly included assault, threats and bringing bullets to school in his backpack.
“Mr. Cruz is a perfect example of someone just falling through the cracks that we create through bad policy,” Jeff Bell, a deputy sheriff and president of the Broward Sheriff’s Office Deputy Association, told The Washington Times.
“They were basically paying us not to make arrests,” said Officer Bell.
The ambitious disciplinary reforms placed the Broward County district on the cutting edge of the nationwide push to decriminalize school discipline championed by the Obama administration.
“Some of my staff joke that the Obama administration might have taken our policies and framework and developed them into national guidelines,” Mr. Runcie told Scholastic Administrator in a 2014 interview. “What we’ve got is very aligned with that. We went out early on.”
In 2011, Mr. Duncan and Attorney General Eric Holder launched the Supportive School Discipline Initiative aimed at “ending the school-to-prison pipeline” by placing the onus on schools to address juvenile delinquency, a precursor to its Rethink Discipline initiative.
"We are the laughing stock of the world right now."

From National Review:
The tragic experience in Broward County teaches us how not to fix the crisis. Stopping the “school-to-prison” pipeline by simply refusing to arrest violent students carries with it unacceptably high costs.
Yesterday Paul Sperry of RealClearInvestigations published a comprehensive report that reached an explosive conclusion:
Despite committing a string of arrestable offenses on campus before the Florida school shooting, Nikolas Cruz was able to escape the attention of law enforcement, pass a background check and purchase the weapon he used to slaughter three staff members and 14 fellow students because of Obama administration efforts to make school discipline more lenient.
Overstatement? Perhaps, but it contains an important element of truth. In 2013, the Broward County school board entered into an agreement with multiple law-enforcement agencies — including the Broward County sheriff — designed to limit the number of on-campus arrests.
Obama education secretary Arne Duncan even highlighted Broward County’s efforts to reduce out-of-school suspensions and try alternative forms of discipline. Broward County was reportedly “one of 53 major school districts” to adopt Obama-administration guidelines designed in part to limit law-enforcement involvement in school discipline.
That should make every single American upset. Regardless of party.
But, it won’t because we all know that Obama has been given a pass for a laundry list of politics and scandals that cost people their lives.
Just terrible. Obama and his party are big fans of easing sentencing, letting people out of jail, and ignoring laws they don’t like. The people of Florida suffered because of it.
The Obama Admin. encouraged schools to stop arresting people because they were scared of being racist. This Florida school district ignored warning signs based on those recommendations. Hard not to make a logical connection here. Obama’s fault? Absolutely not. Did his ridiculous political beliefs contribute? Pretty clear that’s the case.
